Gordon sets NHC TD record as Aggies roll to victory
KEYTESVILLE – Kelton Gordon had a reason to grin after Norborne Hardin-Central’s 88-40 road win Oct. 22 over Keytesville/Brunswick/Northwestern of Mendon.
With his eight rushing touchdowns, Gordon set a program record for most touchdowns in a game. The old record, six, was set in 2015 by Rhyler Estenbaum and tied in 2016 by Zach Smith, now an NHC assistant coach, Aggies varsity 8-man football coach Andrew Watson said.
Gordon learned about setting the record from Smith, who called him the next day, he said.
“It was, honestly, pretty cool,” Gordon said shortly after practice Monday at Hardin-Central. “I was happy that the line gave me open holes, that coach (Watson) gave me time to play and show him what I can do. I thought it was amazing – putting up a new record. It just brings a smile to my face every time I hear (I did) it.”
Gordon rushed for 304 yards, along with his touchdowns, on 25 carries. He was the lone 100- yard rusher for the Aggies, who tallied 479 total rushing yards…
