Golfers hone skills after state tourney

Latimer Cavanah and Brody Farnan are back on the links roughly two weeks after Richmond’s varsity boys golf season ended. For Farnan, playing a round of golf with friends is practically a daily occurrence, he said Monday after doing summer weight training and conditioning exercises on the Richmond High School campus. Progress in his game came a bit slowly at first, he acknowledged. “I took, like, a week break after the season, but I’m starting to get back into it and starting to play pretty well,” Farnan said. Cavanah said he’s playing daily as well. But his approach to his offseason training differs from Farnan’s. Farnan said he’s limiting his rounds to Shirkey Golf Course, the home course for Richmond’s boys and girls prep teams. Cavanah, on the other hand, said he’s testing himself away from Shirkey.
