Cagers continue learning in summer league
HIGGINSIVLLE – The newcomers to the high school girls basketball program at Richmond are getting some tastes of competition a few months before their 202627 season begins.
As the Richmond News reported June 5, the Spartans participated in a late-May shootout at Lawson. The first week of June, they had a shootout slated for Carrollton and two games in a league hosted by Lafayette County of Higginsville. On June 11, they completed their summer-league schedule at Higginsville, cruising past Sweet Springs 31-11 and falling to Lafayette County 35-29.
Eva Moyer, who’ll start her first year of high school in August, was among the incoming freshmen who played at Higginsville. Playing against high schoollevel competition is “really good,” Moyer said.
“I like playing with all the high schoolers now, because I’ve been really looking forward to coming up and playing with them,” she said minutes after the Lafayette County game.
