Larry Ross

Larry Eugene Ross, 70, of Richmond passed away Thursday, April 18, 2024, at NorthCare Hospice House in North Kansas City.

Larry was born July 30, 1953, in Excelsior Springs, the son of Melvin Fay and Mary Belle (Marshall) Ross.

He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Debernna “Dee” Shelley of Richmond on Dec. 9, 1988. She survives of the home.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Dee, of the home; and two daughters, Bobbi Dunlap (Eric Osborn) of Excelsior Springs and April Maulsby (James Wollard) of Richmond. Other survivors include four grandchildren, Kayla Richardson, Curtis Dunlap, Riley Maulsby and Olivia Maulsby; three great-grandchildren, Draven Dunlap, Daryl Richardson and Benjamin Dunlap; a niece, Kris (Dave) Voeller; two nephews, Noel (Helen) Ross and Mike Proffitt; two great-nieces; two great-nephews; a great-great-niece; and a sister, Sharon Baker of Richmond.

He was preceded in death by both parents and his brother, Charles Ross.

Larry grew up in Rockingham and went to school in Hardin. He graduated in 1971 from Hardin-Central High School.

Larry worked for 30-plus years for Waller Trucking Co., where he retired. After his retirement, Larry spent most of his time at the Lake of the Ozarks and in Florida.

He especially enjoyed his time with his family, cooking and grilling for them, and having fish fries. Larry also loved building demolition derby cars, canoeing, camping and playing cards.

Larry will be dearly missed by his family and friends. May he rest in eternal peace.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Antioch Cemetery or NorthCare Hospice House. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation with funeral services will be held Monday, April 29, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m. and services to follow at 2. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, April 29, in Antioch Cemetery, north of Norborne.
