Genelle Kiser, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many, passed away April 13, 2024, at North Kansas City Hospital at age 74. She had resided at her home in Richmond.

She was born to Tony and Leola (Clark) Bichsel May 20, 1949, in Leonard.

She was united in marriage to Ernest William Kiser Jr. on Sept. 2, 1966. He survives at their home in Richmond.

Genelle also is survived by her daughter, Tami (Marty) Johnson of Lee’s Summit; son, Tim (Lea) Kiser of Richmond; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; nephew; and brother-in-law, along with many other loving family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bob Bichsel; and sister, Betty Jolene Long.

Genelle was raised and attended school in North Shelby County.

She was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Richmond, the Altar Society and Beta Sigma Phi, Preceptor Gamma Theta. Genelle’s legacy extends well beyond her family, as she started working in the tax industry in 1982. In 1992, she founded Richmond Income Tax, which she owned and operated for 32 years.

She loved collecting salt and pepper shakers from her and Ernie’s trips throughout the country or as gifts from her family and friends. In the spring and summer months, Genelle loved her flowers and camping with her family.

She was a fantastic cook and served many meals over the years, especially during the holidays. Her compassion, kindness and humor touched the lives of all who knew her.

Genelle’s memory and smile will forever be a source of love, guidance and inspiration for her family and the countless lives she touched. May she rest in eternal peace.

In loving memory of Genelle, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Richmond Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 19, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Richmond. Interment will be in Richmond Memory Gardens.
