Spartans rest up after ES scrimmages
Richmond’s offseason training for high school football got cut short.
On July 30, the Spartans were scheduled for a few hours of limitedcontact scrimmaging at Tiger Stadium with Lawson; Winnetonka, a Kansas City-based school; and Excelsior Springs, the event host. Richmond varsity coach Nick Persell, however, confirmed via text message that the scrimmaging got cut short because of rain.
“We played well in the limited reps we got,” Persell stated.
Offensively, Brice Dome and Malikiah Tharp stood out to Persell for their pass catching. He also singled out running backs Bryson Pruitt and Ryan Sharp.
“Offensive line and tight ends were playing well in the blocking schemes,” Persell stated. “Good day, but short.”
The Spartans performed well defensively, too, according to Persell.
“Probably better than the previous day,” he stated.
