Darlene McMillan Darlene McMillan, 71, of Richmond passed away Friday, July 3, 2026, at her home.

Darlene was born Nov. 22, 1954, in Lexington, the daughter of Elmer and Teressa Mae (Phipps) Rogers.

She was united in marriage to Roy Edward Cook, and they later divorced. During their marriage, they welcomed two children, Kelly Ruth Cook Renwick and Todd Joshua Cook. Roy also brought three children into the family, Ben, Becky and Matt Cook.

Darlene was later united in marriage to Bruce McMillan, who preceded her in death.

For the past 17 years, she shared her life with her loving companion, Dean Askren, who survives of the home.

Additional survivors include her daughter, Kelly Ruth Renwick, and husband Chris of Makawao, Hawaii; son, Todd Joshua Cook of Richmond; stepchildren, Ben Cook, Becky and Matt Cook; and two grandchildren, Lilliana and Dante.

She also is survived by two sisters, Marlene Skiles of Richmond, and Terri Keeler and husband Chris of Rayville; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, greatnephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

In addition to husband Bruce McMillan, she was preceded in death by her parents; the father of her children, Roy Edward Cook; two brothers, Michael David Rogers and Gary Ray Rogers; her brother-in-law, Andy Skiles; her great-niece, Hanna Scott Skiles-Smith; and her greatnephew, Jayce Christopher Keeler.

Darlene was raised and educated in the Lexington area and was known as a hard worker who always gave her very best, no matter the task before her. She took pride in her work and approached life with determination and dedication.

Above all else, Darlene’s greatest joy was her family. She was incredibly proud of her children and grandchildren, celebrating every accomplishment they achieved, no matter how big or small. Their successes brought her immense happiness, and she never missed an opportunity to encourage and support them.

Darlene was a believer in God and was of the Methodist faith. She found comfort in her faith throughout her life.

She will be remembered for her strong work ethic, her devotion to those she loved and the pride she took in her family.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation and memorial services will be held Friday, July 10, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., followed by memorial services at 11.
