WAYNE ENGLEBERT SCHEIBLE
The Richmond News, June 19, 2026
Wayne Englebert Scheible, 85, of Richmond passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.
Wayne was born July 1, 1940, in Norborne, the son of Chester and Helen (Bredemier) Scheible. He was united in marriage to Linda Ruth Stewart of Carrollton on June 2, 1961. She preceded him in death on April 18, 2024.
Survivors include his two sons, Michael Wayne (Traci) Scheible of Liberty and Mark Alan (Tanya) Scheible of Richmond; two grandchildren, Olivia Scheible and Ava Scheible; and sister, Carol Ann Brenneman of Colorado Springs, Colo. He also is survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Scheible and infant brother Charles Wesley Scheible; and a sister, Mary Lou Elliott.
Wayne was raised and educated in the area of his birth and graduated from Norborne High School.
He was a hard-working man who believed in earning an honest living and took pride in a well-done job. Wayne spent 31 years working at Ford Motor Co. and later served 17 years as a bailiff with the Ray County Sheriff’s Department, work he truly enjoyed because it gave him the chance to visit with people and stay connected to his community.
Above all else, Wayne was devoted to his family. He was the kind of man who showed his love through his presence, work ethic and always being there when he was needed.
He enjoyed the quiet life and was happiest living in the country, where things moved a little slower and neighbors still stopped to talk.
Wayne never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. He had a great sense of humor and was known for being a jokester, always finding ways to make others laugh.
Wayne will be remembered as a dedicated family man, a hard worker, and someone who enjoyed life’s simple blessings and the people he shared them with.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Shirkey Hospice. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.
Visitation and funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 23, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. and the services to follow at 11. Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens.
