Chanda Reana Johnson, 49, of Richmond passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City. Chanda was born June 10, 1976, in Lexington, the daughter of Timothy “Tim” Johnson and Judith “Judy” Ann Adams. Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Judy and Dale Minnick of Richmond; father, Tim Johnson of Texas; two sons, Marcus McFee (Taryn Plymell) and Drake McFee (Katherine Hurt), both of Richmond; daughter, Ivy McFee of Richmond; and granddaughter, Freya Reana Michelle McFee. Other survivors include her three brothers, Jason (Liz) Minnick of Chandler, Texas, Scott Fletcher of Richmond and Joshua Shier of Odessa; and three sisters, Andrea Ashinhurst of California, Kimberly Rodriguez of Texas and Carisa Minnick (Jerimia Lee) of Richmond.

She also is survived by 15 nieces and nephews: Aerial Mabery, Ryan Mabery, William Spargo, Harley Spargo, Tristen Minnick, Maddy Minnick, Lottie Fletcher, Gabriel Fletcher, Carson Ashinhurst, Aiden Ashinhurst, Benton Ashinhurst, Brooke Ashinhurst (Rylee Bunch), Brittinie (Brandon) Lee, Tyler Minnick and Blake Minnick. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Ashinhurst Jr. and Mark Allen Ashinhurst.

Chanda was raised and educated in the area of her birth and graduated with the class of 1995 from Richmond High School.

She worked throughout the years at Ideal Industries, and Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. At the time of her passing, she was employed as a dietary aide and cook at Ray County Hospital and Healthcare. She took pride in her work and enjoyed taking care of others in the everyday ways that meant the most.

To know Chanda was to know that her family came first. Being a mom was not just something she did; it was who she was. She loved all the moments that came with motherhood and built her life around caring for, supporting and making memories with the people she loved most.

One thing she looked forward to most was becoming a grandma. She talked about it often and could hardly wait for that next chapter of life, already excited to spoil grandbabies and make memories with them.

Though her life was cut far too short at only 49 years old, she lived with a youthful spirit and brought fun, laughter and energy wherever she went.

Chanda loved music and could enjoy just about anything, but her family says ’90s rhythm and blues was always a favorite. She enjoyed cooking when she had the time, spending days at the lake with family, watching mystery shows, taking nature walks and appreciating the simple things in life.

She loved elephants, butterflies and dragonflies, and found joy being outdoors and surrounded by the people she loved. Chanda had a vibrant personality and an easy way of making life more fun; and she will be remembered for her big heart, her love of family and the joy she brought to those around her.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Chanda Johnson Memorial Fund. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.
