Local journalist earns statewide recognition

A local journalist who has spent the past several years covering Richmond, Excelsior Springs and the surrounding communities has been selected for a statewide award recognizing excellence among young newspaper reporters. Richmond News and Excelsior Springs Standard Lead Reporter Miranda Jamison was recently selected as one of four recipients of the 2026 William E. James Outstanding Young Journalist Award, presented annually by the Missouri Press Association (MPA). The award recognizes newspaper journalists younger than 30 on Jan. 1 of the award, who demonstrate excellence in reporting while upholding the profession’s standards and ethics. This year’s recipients also include Marta Mieze of the Springfield News-Leader, Christopher Parker of the Washington Missourian and Abby Stetina of Leader Publications.
