Continuing the mission after Easter

The Maker of all things left his glorious throne in heaven, formed himself into a human embryo carried by Mary and breathed the air of his cosmos into his infant lungs as a newborn baby. Angels, shepherds and magi worshiped him in amazement. That’s what we celebrate on Christmas Day. God, who became human, grew up to become a Rabbi, called twelve disciples and taught them everything they needed to know to build his church. He healed the sick, cast out demons, raised the dead, taught the truth of God’s kingdom and infuriated the religious establishment in the process. So, they trumped up false charges and he resisted none of them, allowing them to viciously crucify him. That’s what we celebrate on Good Friday. After witnessing this grisly death, a few who stayed loyal to the Son of Man wrapped his corpse in 75 pounds of spices, buried him and went into hiding to escape the envious and bloodthirsty authorities.
