Ray County updates Sunshine Law rules, addresses recordings
Ray County residents requesting public records will now go through a single county contact after commissioners approved revised Sunshine Law procedures.
The changes were approved during a recent meeting after several weeks of review and are intended to clarify fees, response times and locations official county notices will be posted.
Lyndsay Church was named the county’s contact for Sunshine Law requests and will route submissions to the appropriate departments while maintaining a central log and updating requesters on timelines and costs. The formal resolution specifies all Sunshine requests must be sent through the custodian of records, who is located at the Ray County Clerk’s Office, 100 West Main Street.
Presiding Commissioner Shelia Tracy noted a substitute contact will be designated when Church is unavailable, with that information to be publicly posted. Officials also identified a bulletin board near the entrance to the clerk’s office as the county’s official posting…
