Burnine, Hamilton anchor Richmond boys tennis team
Richmond’s varsity boys tennis squad is starting its season on the road, for the most part.
After opening March 24 with a 9-0 loss to visiting Summit Christian Academy, the netters have four away competitions scheduled this week, starting with an 8-1 rout of Knob Noster in Missouri River Valley Conference (MRVC)-East Division action. The Spartans were slated to continue their MRVC East schedule with duals Wednesday at Holden and Thursday at Lafayette County of Higginsville. They’re set to cap the week Friday with a dual tournament, hosted by Mexico High School.
The Richmond boys will then play five of six competitions at home. The away competition is an April 8 tournament, hosted by Excelsior Springs.
Richmond has duals with Cameron and Carrollton on April 16 and 20, respectively – both on the road. The Spartans’ home finale is set for April 24 against Odessa, with the MRVC and district tournaments to follow.
