Mary was raised and educated in the area of her birth and graduated from Cole Camp High School.

She spent her life as a devoted housewife and homemaker, taking great pride in raising her family, though she also worked outside the home at different times throughout her life.

Mary loved the country life and enjoyed raising horses and cattle alongside her family. She was a member of the Missouri Hereford Association and especially enjoyed attending cattle shows with her family over the years.

Mary truly loved being surrounded by her family, and her home was always a place where everyone was welcome. She often said the more family there was gathered at the house, the better. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she affectionately gave each one their own special nickname. Mary also loved animals, especially her dog, Granny.

She enjoyed listening to music by Alan Jackson, spending time fishing, and expressing her creativity through making and painting ceramics and other artwork.

Mary was a member of the Rayville Christian Union Church.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Rayville Christian Union Church or Crowley Cemetery. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.
