H-C ladies drop rematch with Pirates
Ester Kincaid will leave Hardin-Central a school record-holder in varsity girls basketball when she graduates in May.
On Feb. 27, Kincaid nearly secured a district title to go with her school records.
Hardin-Central led Norborne 43-36 about midway through the fourth quarter when the schools played for the Class 1 District 13 Tournament title at Norborne. The Pirates responded by outscoring Hardin-Central 12-3 down the stretch to end the Bulldogs’ season – and Kincaid’s prep career – with a 48-44 loss.
By sinking one of two free throws with 6.5 seconds left, Kincaid finished the scoring. She also added to her school record for most points in a season.
“Usually, I don’t think about stats too much, but I did think about that one,” Kincaid said. “It’s sad, but I also know that it’s not my last shot ever.”
Kincaid, who plans to play women’s basketball at the University of St. Mary in Leavenworth, Kan., finished her senior season with 607 points. That broke Kristen Buhrmeister’s record…
