Defense seeks dismissal of Ray County prosecutor’s lawsuit
James Murray and Star Investigations LLC have filed a motion for summary judgment in federal court, asking a judge to dismiss all claims brought by Ray County Prosecuting Attorney Camille A. Johnston.
The motion was recently filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri and asks the court to enter judgment in favor of James Murray and Star Investigations LLC (defendants) on all counts, arguing “ there is no genuine dispute as to any material fact
and defendants are entitled to judgment as a matter of law.”
Johnston’s lawsuit includes three claims: violation of the federal Driver’s Privacy Protection Act, defamation and intrusion upon seclusion. Johnston first filed the federal lawsuit in 2024 through attorney Chad G. Gardner, demanding a jury trial against Murray and his business.
