Local farm families invited to apply for recognition
The University of Missouri (MU) Extension in Ray County is encouraging eligible farm families to apply for the 2025 Missouri Century Farm program, with the application deadline approaching on May 1.
Each year, MU Extension, in partnership with the MU College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources and the Missouri Farm Bureau, honors Missouri farms that have been owned and operated by the same family for 100 consecutive years or more.
To qualify, the same family must have owned the farm for 100 consecutive years as of Dec. 31. The line of ownership from the original settler or buyer may be through children, grandchildren, siblings, nephews or nieces, including through marriage or adoption. The present farm must consist of at least 40 acres from the original acquisition and contribute financially to the overall farm income.
