Ethics commission fines Ray County commissioner

The Missouri Ethics Commission has fined Ray County Western Commissioner Bobby Don Davis $2,000 after determining he violated state campaign finance laws. The commission found probable cause that Davis and his campaign committee, the Committee to Elect Bobby Don Davis Ray County Western Commissioner, failed to file the required paperwork on time, according to the documents. Davis opened a campaign bank account and accepted contributions in April and June 2024 but did not register his committee until July 12, missing the June 24 deadline. He also failed to file the July 2024 quarterly campaign finance report, which was due July 15. Under Missouri law, candidates are required to register their campaign committees within 20 days of raising or spending funds and to file timely financial disclosures.
