MU Extension welcomes specialist to Ray, surrounding counties

Growing up in the small town of Dawn, Shelby Jenkins was no stranger to the rhythms and responsibilities of farm life. Nestled in Carroll County, her family’s diversified row crop and beef cattle operation was the backdrop for her childhood memories. Her passion for agriculture sprouted from these early experiences. Though her family specialized in raising cattle, Jenkins found a unique love in showing hogs. Reflecting on her youth, she said, “Some of my favorite memories include feeding cows, checking for new calves and harvest time. It was during these moments that I realized my deep connection to agriculture.” Her involvement with the Pleasant Hill Hustlers 4-H Club and the Braymer FFA Chapter further solidified her commitment to the agricultural community. “I learned that successful agriculture looks very different depending on where you are,” explained Jenkins. “It was this that inspired me to continue my education in livestock production and ultimately take a job serving…
