Following the shooting sports competitions at this year’s Ray County Fair, Amanda Cringan continued her tradition of handing out gift bags to 4-H members who had competed at the fair for the last time. It hit home when she handed out one of them. Cringan, county 4-H shooting sports coordinator, gave out two gift bags July 13 at the fairgrounds. The recipients included Jake Cringan, the younger of her two sons. Giving her son his parting gifts was “very hard because that is my last child,” the elder Cringan acknowledged. “Next year when I start this, I will have no kids in shooting sports of my own,” she said. “So it’s just a new chapter in life.” Jake Cringan, who graduated this spring from Richmond High School, left his final Ray County Fair shoot with a Best in Show Award for ages 14-18.
