Six Richmond grapplers qualify for state

HIGGINSVILLE – Conner Teat has one last time to wrestle at state. Teat, a Richmond High School senior, qualified for the Class 1 state tournament by placing second in the 132-pound division in District 3 competition, held Feb. 11-12 at Lafayette County of Higginsville. The top four finishers in each weight class advanced to the tournament, slated to begin Thursday and conclude Saturday at Mizzou Arena in Columbia. It is Teat’s fourth time at state. He qualified at 113 in 2019 and 2020, placing fourth in 2020; and at 120 last season, placing fourth. “Feels great, knowing that this is my last chance to really win it all,” Teat said. “I’m excited.” Teat, who lost by decision 3-2 to Centralia’s Jesse Shannon in his district title match, was among four Richmond runners-up.
