Depleted Richmond girls fall in fifth-place tournament game

LAWSON – Richmond varsity girls coach Chad Snyder noticed the effects of illness on his Spartans during their 49-26 loss to Trenton in the fifthplace game of the Lawson Invitational Basketball tournament. “We were without three players and I just don’t think we handled it very well. … It’s definitely not an excuse; I just don’t think we did a very good job of handling that situation, and pretty much from top to bottom, we just didn’t play a very good game,” Snyder said. Snyder doubted that COVID had sidelined the trio for the Jan. 14 meeting in the Barker Center. “I just don’t think we’re feeling very well,” he said. “I think sickness is going around.” Sophomore guard Kaylee Pugh noticed the girls’ absence in the post and at guard. “They help a lot on offense, so we struggled with that today,” she said.
