Snyder blessed with high hoops turnout, football run
Snyder is on Richmond’s varsity football coaching staff. He also is in his fourth season as the head varsity girls basketball coach. Thus, he found himself shuttling between the football practice field, where he helped the Spartans reach the Class 2 state semifinals, and the high school gym as he helped the Richmond girls prep for the season, which began Nov. 23 with a 44-12 road win over Orrick.
“It’s a little different. Just makes the days a little longer. … The thing with having to do that right now, that means the football team’s winning, so that’s a good thing,” he said Nov. 8.
The turnout for basketball is “a good thing,” too, Snyder said. As of Nov. 8, there were 27 girls in grades nine-12 playing, he said – roughly double the total of his first season in 2018-19.
“Now if we can just improve our fundamentals, then … hopefully, it’ll correlate to success on the game board,” Snyder said.
