COVID case at high school; countywide infections drop
RICHMOND – The Richmond School District reported more COVID cases, the second report in as many weeks.
The district reported “individuals” at Sunrise Elementary tested positive. So did someone at the high school.
Pupils under age 12 are not allowed to get COVID-19 vaccinations.
The district does not require students or staff at any level to wear masks.
“As always, we will continue to keep the utmost regard for the health of our students, staff and community while making all educational decisions,” district information states.
A student on a school bus must wear a mask. Wearing a mask while on a bus is a federal requirement.
The Ray County Health Department notified those known to have had close contact with the infected persons.
The number of active COVID-19 cases in Ray has fallen from 103 on Aug. 26 to 79 on Sept. 2. Deaths have remained steady at 39 since Aug. 26.
