Richmond's run in the Class 4 state boys basketball playoffs ended with a heartbreaker.

The Spartans led for much of their March 12 state quarterfinal with The Barstow School at Avila University, only to suffer a 70-67 loss to the Knights. Barstow then had to forfeit Friday's semifinal meeting with Westminster Christian Academy because of COVID, multiple media outlets reported.
