Just less than 16% of registered voters — which totals 14,940 in the county — chose to cast a ballot in the April 2 Ray County General Municipal Election, with 2,380 ballots counted. Unofficial results of the election have been released by Ray County Clerk Heather Maulsby. A majority of voters 1,429 (61.75%) were in favor of increasing the annual rate of property tax from .11 cents to .35 cents for the Senior Citizens Nursing Home District of the county. Only 885 voters were opposed to the tax increase, or 38.25%. Justin Wrisinger easily nabbed a seat on the Ray County Hospital and Healthcare Board, taking 1,164, or 54.14% of the votes cast. Also in the race were Gretchen “Bush” Edwards with 538 votes (25.02%); Jessica McMillan, 432 (20.09%), and Write in, 16 (0.74%). In the Ray County 911 Board Member Eastern District, Chad Burnine received 707 votes, or 51.72% and Jimmy Carter took 645 votes, or 47.18%. Both men will take a seat at the table.
