Teen driving safety program comes to Ray County
The transition from passenger seat to driver’s seat may represent freedom for teenagers, but safety experts say it also introduces one of the most dangerous periods in a young person’s life.
The Ray County Sheriff’s Office recently hosted the free First Impact program at the Ray County Library in partnership with ThinkFirst Missouri and the Missouri Department of Transportation’s Traffic and Highway Safety Division. Presented by First Impact Program Specialist Allyn Workman, the program focused on teen driving safety, crash prevention and the importance of continued parent involvement as teenagers begin driving independently.
Workman discussed the dangers teen drivers face once they begin driving independently, noting traffic crashes remain one of the leading causes of death for teenagers both in Missouri and across the country.
