Richmond ATM stolen, man arrested

A Kansas City man is facing two felony charges after stealing a Richmond Community Bank of Missouri Automated Teller Machine (ATM) on Walton Way in Richmond. Terrence D. Alexander, 23 has been charged with stealing and first-degree property damage and is being held in the Ray County Jail without bond, according to Richmond Police Chief Scott Bagley. The theft occurred on Jan. 31 and Alexander was arrested after midnight on Feb. 1 by the Richmond Police Department along with the Independence Police Department and Kansas City Police Department - East Patrol. Bagley said there is a ring of people stealing ATMs in Kansas City. “We have one in custody but there is a ring and unfortunately, they can steal an ATM within five minutes. What happens normally is they pry the ATM open and use a chain to tear it off the property. They can throw it in a vehicle and go.
