Recognition given to Ray County’s 4-H volunteers

RICHMOND – Missouri 4H State Director Lupita Fabregas praised Ray County’s 4-H volunteers. “Volunteers are the true heart and soul of the 4-H program,” Fabergas said. “Without great volunteers working to support 4H members, we would not be able to reach the number of youth we serve in Ray County.” 4-H volunteers ranked among the millions across the country who celebrated during the annual National Volunteer Week through April 24. Most Missouri 4-H volunteers dedicate 100 hours each year to the 4-H program. Ray County has 61 volunteers and volunteer time was valued at $165,900. 4-H youth specialist Emily Bergsieker said without volunteers the 4-H program would not be possible. “As a volunteer-driven organization, the contribution by our volunteers is invaluable, helping youth in the community develop leadership and life skills as they learn more about projects that they are interested in,” she said.
