Raise the Roof fundraiser exceeds $5k goal

Richmond High School (RHS) National Honor Society (NHS) sponsor Kim Wilton said $6,887.19 was raised for the Richmond R-XVI district to help cover an $8,600 deficit from lunch balances. RHS Principal Brandon Quick said the funds were originally for food, items for students or helping students pay their lunch debt. He said although there was confusion – the funds went strictly to help the school district. While on the roof last week, Quick offered a “thank you” to all NHS members and business sponsors. “We are up here for a really important reason, NHS raised money with a goal of $5,000. I’m up here because not only did they meet the goal – they exceeded it to almost $7,000,” said Quick. “As promised, administration will be up on the roof. We are super proud of everyone who gave.” The issue concerning an $8,600 deficit in student meal accounts, created by families who left accounts unpaid for several months, was discussed again in the May and June meetings of the Richmond R-XVI…
