Repairs to Homestead Village’s wastewater system are expected to begin within the next week as the federally funded infrastructure project enters its final phase.

The update came during a recent meeting between the Ray County Commission and representatives from FORVIS, Great River Engineering and the county attorney’s office as officials discussed construction timelines, remaining project funds and the federal spending deadline. The project includes improvements to both the community’s wastewater collection system and treatment facility using the county’s remaining American Rescue Plan Act funding.

Great River Engineering Water Team Leader Connie Walden told commissioners Homestead Village’s board planned to approve Change Order No. 1 during its meeting later that day, allowing the contractor to begin time-and-materials work on repairs to the community’s wastewater collection system.
