Hardin citizens seek Hwy A support at courthouse

Nearly 40 Hardin residents entered the Ray County Commissioners’ quarters at the county courthouse to discuss State Hwy A concerns with commissioners Dave Powell, Billy Gaines, and Gary Wilhite; and District 7 state Representative Peggy Mc-Gaugh. Concerns were from the Hardin- Central School District, farmers, and residents – their goal was to find out ways they can get support from the local government in hopes Hwy A will be a priority to the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT). Prior to the meeting, commissioners discussed the state budget with Kansas City District MoDOT engineer Benjamin McCabe. “I think everybody’s here for the exact same reason we’re here: what the county commission can do for us. We’re seeking help and assistance to get the state highways out there redone and resurfaced – not chip and seal. The roads are in a deplorable condition with humps and dips.
