Over 40 county residents in the Ray County Commissioners quarters voiced their opinions on a future 15.26-acre RV park near W. 112 Street in Richmond. The commissioners approved a Ray County Planning and Zoning Board recommendation that allows the future RV park to rezone the agriculturally zoned land into a B2 – Community Business District. The 2-1 vote passed after taking the recommendation from the planning and zoning board, with Eastern Commissioner Dave Powell and Presiding Commissioner Billy Gaines voting “yes” to rezone over Western Commissioner Gary Wilhite’s “no” vote. Many concerns were raised by county resident Mike Despain, who read a letter he wrote to the commissioners outlining his and neighboring residents’ concerns.
