City approves contracts for new gym floor
With Richmond City Council’s unanimous approval, Richmond City Administrator Tonya Willim is executing an agreement with AT Abatement Services, Inc., Tribeca Concrete Construction, LLC; and DB Flooring, LLC to install a new flooring system in the city gymnasium.
AT Abatement Services will take out the asbestos removal titling, Tribeca Concrete Construction will do concrete, while DB Flooring will lay new flooring, said Councilwoman Deanna Guy.
In November 2016, the city entered into a contract with Kiefer Specialty Flooring, Inc. (KSF) for installation of a vulcanized rubber floor in the city gymnasium for $145,220.
Within one year after the completion of the installation of the flooring system, problems began to arise with humps developing in areas of the floor. The city filed a suit against KSF for damages on April 26, 2022. On July 25, the city and Kiefer agreed to resolve and settle all claims and disputes under the terms of a settlement agreement executed by the parties.
