Summer sessions get Richmond golfers ready for fall practices

Richmond’s girls golf program had a leg up on last year when it began fall sports practices Monday at Shirkey Golf Course, second- year coach Courtney Sisson acknowledged. When Sisson succeeded Murray Dennis as coach in 2024, she was hired late in the summer, she recalled. Thus, she didn’t have time to lead the girls in any offseason team activities before practices began, she said. This summer, however, the Spartans held morning training sessions at Shirkey. “We practiced pretty consistently – twice a week,” Sission said in the Shirkey clubhouse. “There were some weeks that we were able to get three practices in a week.” Overall, attendance was excellent, according to Sisson. “I was very proud of them for getting up early, because we started practice at 7:30 to try to beat the heat,” she said. “And most days, I had almost all of them here, so that was really nice.” Teammates and upperclassmen Karoline Dooley and Jazmyn Schroder agreed the offseason sessions went well.
