Richmond’s prep football players worked to sharpen their skills this week, in part, to get ready to scrimmage against other high schools next week.

At press time, the Spartans were slated to finish a set of team camp sessions Thursday on their practice field. Those attending camp this week included offensive/ defensive lineman Brody Farnan and wide receiver/ defensive back Malikiah Tharp, both of whom will begin senior year when classes start in August.

Tharp wanted to see the Spartans improve in communication and physicality before participating in scrimmages July 21 at Pleasant Hill and July 24 at William Jewell College in Liberty.

“We been a lot better at being more physical this year,” he said Monday.

Farnan wanted to see improvements in Richmond’s defensive unit before next week. Specifically, he wanted the defense to “know where everyone’s going, which linebackers are getting picked up on certain plays.”
