Rodenberg, ’Cats hone confidence, physical skills with joint practice
Avis Rodenberg got a confidence boost July 10.
Participating as part of Orrick’s varsity girls basketball program in a joint morning practice with Hardin-Central in the Orrick High School gym, Rodenberg became more self-assured in her passing and dribbling, she said.
“I’ve never been much of a ballhandler … – handling the ball makes me nervous,” Rodenberg said.
The confidence boost was part of a progression Orrick coach Jonathan Kinder has seen in Rodenberg.
“You can see the confidence in her from early June to now grow quite a bit,” said Kinder, whose summer training regimen included skill sessions in June. “Like her shots – … she just shoots the ball with more confidence and participates in stuff more confidently.”
Rodenberg, who’ll start high school this fall, was among three Orrick girls who participated.
