POSSIBLE GRAND SLAM Richmond’s Kaylee King could bring home as many as four medals from the Class 3 state track and field meet this weekend.
King qualified for the Friday-Saturday meet at Jefferson City by placing in the top four in four girls events at the Sectional 4 meet May 11 at Holden. She won the triple jump by leaping 10.93 meters and took second in the long jump by leaping 4.98.
In addition, King took third in the 100-meter high hurdles. Her time, 15.83 seconds, broke her own school record, according to Richmond varsity coach David Rash.
King also took fourth in the high jump, clearing 1.51.
“We are really excited for Kaylee to qualify in four events,” Rash stated Monday via email. “She has done an awesome job this year competing in each meet we have had.”
King was Richmond’s lone girls qualifier. The Spartans produced three boys qualifiers – one of them qualifying in two events. Jacob Johnson won the long jump and took third in the triple jump.
