ALL TIED UP On Sept. 4, Richmond coach Zach Baldauf and his varsity girls team pulled off a rare feat for team tennis: They ended a dual in a tie. The Spartans drew 3-3 in their Missouri River Valley Conference (MRVC)-East Division dual with Holden at Maurice Roberts Park. The tie followed a 9-0 loss Sept. 1 to visiting Maryville. “I thought that our players did well against Holden,” Baldauf stated Monday via email. “Most of the matches were fairly competitive. As this is Holden’s first year of a program, they are in a similar position to us regarding the amount of tennis that has been played.” Following the tie, the Richmond girls fell 9-0 Tuesday to MRVC East foe Lexington on the road. The Spartans were set to finish this week with a tournament Wednesday at Carrollton and an MRVC East dual with Lafayette County of Higginsville Thursday at Higginsville.
