A first-half nail-biter turned into a runaway win for Norborne Hardin-Central (NHC) in varsity 8-man football. The Aggies led the Aug. 29 meeting at Hardin-Central 6-0 after one quarter. They went on to win their season opener 60-36. “The kids came out with good energy against Sweet Springs,” NHC coach Andrew Watson stated Monday via email. “We moved the ball well the entire game and were able to finish drives, which was key in building momentum.” Offensively, quarterback Brody Fifer led NHC to victory. Fifer, a Hardin-Central junior, rushed for 209 yards and five touchdowns on 17 carries. He also completed five of six passes for 68 yards. Fifer was one of two Aggies to top 100 yards rushing. His cousin, Zach Deitch, tallied 132 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries. Defensively, Jagger McNelly led NHC with 14 total tackles, including 11 solo tackles and five tackles for a loss.
