Johnson, Vandiver, McDaniel lead Richmond boys at districts
CHILLICOTHE – A quadricep injury last season and a hamstring injury earlier this season drove Jacoby Johnson to try to qualify for sectionals in high school track and field in “as many events as” possible, he said.
That number was four.
Johnson, who graduated Sunday from Richmond, qualified for Class 3 Sectional 4 boys competition Saturday at Odessa by placing in the top four in one individual event and on three relay teams May 14 at the Class 3 District 8 meet at Chillicothe. He took second in the 400-meter dash in 50.29 seconds. He also helped the Spartans take second in the 3,200 relay and 800 relay in 8:43.35 and 1:32.84, respectively. Johnson capped the meet by helping Richmond take third in the 1,600 relay in 3:36.65.
