It’s the pits for St. Michael the Archangel’s season when Richmond sends the Guardians... FALLING FROM GRACE
RICHMOND – The St. Michael the Archangel Guardians faltered on the opening kickoff, the opening snap and throughout the game in their 69-14 District championship loss to Richmond.
St. Michael muffed the kickoff catch and senior Michael Haggerty had to give chase backward to recover the ball before being downed at the 27-yard line by Richmond senior Collin Cromley.
From bad to ugly, the first snap bounced off senior quarterback Dillon Zaun’s helmet into a forest of linemen’s legs. Richmond sophomore Hayden Happy sank into the scrum to get his fingers on the ball at the same time as St. Michael senior running back Ellis Edwards. Richmond junior Thomas Murphy shoved a lineman into Edwards, leaving Happy and Cromley to secure the turnover for Richmond at the 25.
Four-year starting quarterback Keyshaun Elliott and Evan Vandiver took turns carrying the ball for Richmond until Elliott’s tackle-shedding, up-themiddle, 11-yard TD rush and two-point conversion run put the Spartans ahead 8-0…
