Consistency, ‘little things’ hurt Aggies in loss to Greyhounds
Norborne Hardin-Central’s (NHC’s) 50-22 season-opening loss to Sweet Springs/Malta Bend Aug. 26 on the road provided the Aggies lessons on the importance of consistency and executing the subtleties of varsity 8-man football.
“We started out strong …; we made some good plays, especially in the first half, … had the lead at a few points and kept the game close throughout the entire … first half,” coach Andrew Watson said Monday by phone. “And then, as the second half wore on, we … struggled … to stay consistent with the little things … – consistently making the blocks that … (we) needed to make.”
The Aggies also struggled to consistently tackle quarterback Blake Schroeder in the Central River Conference (CRC) interdivisional meeting, Watson acknowledged.
“He was a handful for us, breaking tackles and (was) a big, strong, physical kid,” he said.
