Coaching less ‘vanilla’ for Terry in second year

Brett Terry can already see differences in his Spartans as his second year of coaching Richmond girls tennis gets underway, compared to the start of his first season. “We still have a long ways to go, but I mean, last year, we didn’t have anyone who even knew how to keep score. … We had to really start everything very vanilla and very basic,” Terry said Aug. 9 at Maurice Roberts Park. “And so, now, it’s nice that I have girls that can …, if necessary, teach other girls how to keep score or kind of give pointers themselves, so I’m not the only one telling them what to do and everything.” As of the first week of fall sports practices, there were five girls on the roster, Terry said, with the possibility of that total reaching seven by the start of the regular season. “A couple are still up in the air right now,” he said.
