HARDIN – Norborne Hardin-Central coach Andrew Watson and his Aggies found bright spots in their 64-30 loss Oct. 15 to Northwest of Hughesville/Sacred Heart of Sedalia at Hardin-Central.
One of them was Kalel Bowman’s performance in his first varsity 8-man football game. Brought up from NHC’s junior high program, the Hardin-Central freshman contributed a 1-yard, fourth-quarter TD run and a two-point conversion run. His other contributions included kickoff return duties.
“He did a really good job, all things considered,” Watson said. “I think he was a little nervous there the first couple times he touched the ball … (the) first time going against some of … (those) bigger varsity kids. But … once we got rolling and he realized it’s still football, he did a great job (of) putting his foot in the ground.”
Watson said he is thrilled to have Bowman getting varsity reps.
“Hopefully, that leads into more success his next three years,” Watson said.
