’Cats let the pigskin fly to close varsity camp

After spending much of last week installing a new defense, Orrick varsity 8-man football coach Kirk Thacker and his Bearcats devoted the end of their team camp to offense. On June 28, the Bearcats started by going over their defense, Thacker said. Then, decked out in T-shirts and gym shorts, they ran through plays in their spread attack at Simmons Field. Primarily, they ran pass plays. It was the Bearcats’ second straight day of refreshing themselves on the offense Thacker had installed last season, he said. “This is a good way to end the camp this week, with a little ‘O’ session here and letting them get out and run and … (conditioning) them a little bit without them knowing they’re being conditioned,” Thacker said.
