Bulldogs Columbia-bound; Richmond’s cross country season ends
ST. JOSEPH – Mason Freece is going to state again in boys cross country.
This time, he will run with Hardin-Central teammates.
A 2019 and 2020 Class 1 state qualifier, Freece paced the Bulldogs when they ran in the Class 1 District 4 meet Oct. 30 at Missouri Western State University, finishing the 3.1-mile race in 20 minutes, 50.3 seconds for 25th place. His finish helped the Bulldogs place fourth out of six complete teams with 87 points.
By placing fourth, the Bulldogs qualified for state competition this weekend in Columbia – a first for coach Kari Winfrey during her five-year career, she stated Monday via email.
Per Missouri State High School Activities Association rules, districts with a minimum of five complete teams send their top four teams to state. The top 30 individuals from each district also qualified, counting runners on teams that qualified.
