Bowman helps Spartans shoot 182 at home

RICHMOND – Aiden Bowman found a way to put a few rough holes behind him Monday during Richmond’s triangular with Knob Noster and Orrick at Shirkey Golf Course. By doing so, the Richmond junior shot his best nine-hole round of varsity boys golf this season, a 42 (+6). With his score, Bowman finished as event co-medalist with senior teammate Timmy Hamilton. Playing in chilly, windy conditions, Bowman began on the fifth hole, where he double-bogeyed after three-putting, he said. He then bogeyed on hole No. 6 and double-bogeyed again on No. 7. “On those holes, you (have) just got to forget about them and move on,” Bowman said. Bowman did. He made par on No. 8. “I kind of just settled down,” he said. On No. 9, Bowman birdied, finishing the par-4 hole in three strokes. “After that, … my swing was feeling good and I just kept playing,” he said.
