Annoying or annoyed? The difference

Dealing with people in general or specifically partners, family members or friends can be quite the challenge. Being close with individuals will likely bring disagreements or quarrels – leading to annoyance and irritation. As an older sister, daughter and girlfriend, I get it.

There are moments when my family members are so annoying or some days I wake up on the wrong side of the bed and I am annoyed. Investigating the deeper meaning of my feelings, although valid, is a curious task.

My mother often would ask me when I call to vent about an annoyance in my life, “Are they being annoying with intent or are you just annoyed?”

She really knows how to look at the bigger picture.

I ask myself that as well and most times it is just my circumstance and me – personally. At the end of the day it was me.
