Roberta Jean Rash, 78, of Rayville passed away Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024, at Liberty Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Roberta was born Sept. 3, 1945, in Hardin, the daughter of Roy Robert “Bob” and Bertha Mae (Phillips) Farmer.

She was united in marriage to Floyd Wayne Rash of Rayville on Feb. 23, 1964. He preceded her in Roberta Rash

death on Nov. 15, 2012.

Survivors include her three children, daughter Rebecca (Paul) Saling of Jefferson City, Rodney Rash of Richmond and Kevin (Kim) Rash of Lawson; four grandchildren, Ashley (Tyrone) Wilson, Kyle (Casey) Te, Logan Rash and Hayley Rash; five great-grandchildren, Brandon Wilson, Mileah Wilson, Abram Te, Lottie Te and Ruby Te; one great-great-grandchild, Riley Wilson; and four sisters, Wanda (Roy) Hartman of Rayville, Sandra (Ike) Tate of Excelsior Springs, Phyllis Turner of Lathrop and Debbie (Jim) Willis of Knoxville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Robert Dean Farmer; and two sisters, Mary Wrisinger and Bonnie Stone.

Roberta was reared and educated in the area of her birth and graduated from Lawson High School.

She worked as a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service until she retired in 2013. Roberta also was a school bus driver for the Excelsior Springs and Richmond school districts for more than 40 years.

She was big into farming and loved the great outdoors. Roberta was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting morel mushrooms. She loved all sports. Roberta was a racecar enthusiast. Her sons and grandson all own racecars. She was her family’s greatest race fan and was willing to help with whatever was needed to get ready for the races. Her grandson said, “She would be driving the racecar today, if they let her.”

Roberta was a member of the Rayville Christian Union Church.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Roberta Rash Memorial Fund. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation with funeral services were scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Rayville Christian Union Church, with visitation beginning at 1 p.m., followed by the services at 2. Burial was to be in Crowley Cemetery, Rayville.
